Who we are
Hello! We're Graphite + Diamond. We make and tour new popular live entertainment and experiences in our mobile venue The Palace, and provide custom builds of very cool ideas.
We run workshops, outreach projects and training to spread the technical skills and confidence to bring creativity and making into the daily life of the communities we live in, work in and tour to.
We founded Graphite + Diamond in 2021, and are passionate about balancing creativity and ecology by taking carbon out of the equation in the work we do. We’re working towards being able to tour fossil-fuel free, and keep the natural world front and centre in our work on The Small Quarter, our home in Mitcham.
Meet the Team

I’m Jo, co-founder and Creative Director. I’m a theatre director, writer and performance artist. I make shows and lead workshops all over the country and internationally, such as Antigone at Regents Park Open Air Theatre and Marty & The Party on UK Tour. I’m also Associate Director at Milk Presents.
The moments I love best are when we see people get excited about something we’ve created, whether that’s a live experience or a beautiful installation fresh out of the workshop.

I’m Gary, co-founder and Head of Workshop. I’m a carpenter, workshop leader and gardener. I build sets, static and mobile sound systems and installations for the likes of Mercato Metrapolitano, Paines Plough and Latitude Festival, and I converted an Abi Monza Mk II caravan into our mobile venue The Palace.
The times I love most are seeing people take part in the building of a project or garden and see the same enjoyment I have experienced for over 20 years.
The Small Quarter
Our home The Small Quarter is a garden, workshop and creative space, where we grow food as well as creativity and community.
Our dream is a permanent eco-friendly building for carpentry and making, learning and volunteering – that the whole community can share. There will be messy play for kids, an outdoor activity space for workshops, events... and your ideas.
